LEMON: NEDCHESTER

Music blogs say Lemon makes Soul Rock, Shoegaze Dance Pop, a concoction of euphoria and indie Funk and Neo Madchester. November 2025 Indiefferential Magazine even wrote: “A rare example of a band that invented its own category”. As a band from The Netherlands we like to call it Nedchester. Yes, influenced by the Madchester sound and the vibe of the Second Summer of Love, but with a Lemon twist. It is no coincidence we have been support act for the legendary The Charlatans, Primal Scream and Stereo MC’s. Nor that seven Lemon singles and two Lemon albums feature guest singer Cath Coffey from Stereo MC’s.

A quote from an Illustrate Magazine review of the album Keep Shining, released on 26 January 2026: “Drawing inspiration from the Madchester era while carving out their own lane, Lemon calls their sound “Nedchester” – a fitting label for a style that blends indie rock, dance energy, and soulful swagger. By the closing notes, Lemon leaves the impression of a band that isn’t just making songs – they’re building a soundtrack for living, dancing, and finding light in uncertain times.”

After the release of our single Maybe It’s You (Sept 2025) Odyssey Magazine wrote: “Lemon keep proving they’re one of the most exciting bands bubbling up from the Netherlands”. About the release of Insta Queen (May 2025) Buzzy Band wrote: “These folks aren’t just playing rock – they’re turning it into a weapon of mass destruction.” Regarding You Keep Me On Track (October 2023) RGM Press wrote “They’re shaping the future of indie music”.  Lost In The Manor wrote “Lemon has knocked it out of the park with this one”.  Following the release of Before We Fade To Grey (September 2022). Fruitsonic exclaimed “Everything about it stuns”. About Shiiine On (May 2021),  Talk About Pop Music wrote “a great Summer festival anthem”. Last Day Deaf called it “a euphoric, psychedelic hymn”. “Lemon could quite be one of the biggest hidden gems within the kingdom of The Netherlands” said weblog It’s All Indie after the release of our single Love Can Take You Places (May 2020).

Our fourth album was ranked #6 in the Top-10 of best albums of the year of famous Dutch music journalist Swie Tio. About our third, Netherland’s number 1 Music Magazine OOR wrote: “The best songs on the album are as great as Stone Roses or Happy Mondays work”.
